Clear water

Sedimentation leads to unbalanced water systems. Clogging up of waterways, muddy waters and eutrophication. Dredging periodically or continuously will improve the water quality. Dredging is associated with ecological damage. Aqitec propagates dredging systems that follow the speed of nature. Continuous solutions for continuous problems.

Traditional dredging methods

Traditional dredging projects are periodically executed with large, noisy diesel powered dredgers, excavators, grabs and cutters. At challenging locations dredging is costly or not even possible: under bridges or ships, in tight or deep locations. In some cases the only option is to use divers.

Insight in waterways

The Netherlands especially have a complex landscape of canals, ponds, lakes and rivers. The upkeep of waters is essential to maintain a healthy system. Quality and quantity of water is measured by gauging, sampling and monitoring. Additional real time monitoring with a grid of basic sensors provides insight in dynamics.

Salt intrusion

Salt intrusion is a growing problem for agriculture and ecology. Salt intrusion takes place in times of drought. To understand the dynamics of salt intrusion it is necessary to monitor continuously.

Dredging plumes

Dredging plumes are clouds of debris as a result of dredging. This affects the surrounding environment. A plume's evolution - how large it becomes, where it moves, how long it lasts - determines its effects on marine plants and animals. It affects light to pass through, can alter the water's salinity or oxygen content and particles may settle at unwanted places such as spawning grounds.

Floating plastic travels by rivers

A large amount of plastic litter can be found in the ocean. Plastic pollution poses risks for the safety and health of marine animals, but there are health and economic risks for humans as well. One of the main causes is the plastic litter that is thrown away into canals and rivers in urban areas. Following the current of the river, the plastic ends up in the oceans. To prevent this unwanted travel it is most effective to clean up the plastic in urban areas.

Catching plastic

For catching plastic effectively with a minimum need of energy Aqitec developed the Catchring. This is a very elegant and easy solution to capture floating debris and prevent it from floating towards the ocean.
